After more than two decades without a major musical theatre production, Sergeant Bluff-Luton Community Schools is bringing musical theatre back to the stage in a big way.
More than 65 Sergeant Bluff-Luton students attended a recent informational meeting to learn about two exciting new musical theatre opportunities. This summer, REACH Theatre will present six performances of the award-winning musical High School Musical at the SBL High School Auditorium.
Performance dates for High School Musical are:
- July 24
- July 25
- July 26
- July 31
- August 1
- August 2
Cast members are currently being recruited from Sergeant Bluff-Luton Schools, as well as surrounding schools and communities, creating an opportunity for students across the region to participate in a large-scale theatrical production.
The return of musical theatre marks a significant moment for the district and reflects growing enthusiasm among students, families, and community members for performing arts opportunities.
The excitement will continue into the next school year as Sergeant Bluff-Luton Schools prepare to produce Disney’s The Little Mermaid in January. Auditions for the production are scheduled for September for SBL students in grades 7-12.
Performance dates for the Little Mermaid are:
- January 8
- January 9
- January 10
School officials and theatre organizers hope these productions will help establish a renewed tradition of musical theatre within the district while providing students with valuable creative, collaborative, and performance experiences.
Additional details regarding auditions, ticket sales, and performance times will be announced in the coming months.
