Due to our much larger than expected enrolment numbers, almost all of our buses are at capacity. Buses 2, 14, 15, and 17 are at capacity. We will not be able to allow students to ride home with others, switch buses, etc. on those buses. IF this changes, we will work to accommodate your request. Thank you
Something I need to remind myself of.....We often get caught up in one area or situation and let it negatively impact us. Remember that the 'Sun Will Come Up Tomorrow' and we try again. 👍👊

Each year, we start our school day with a student welcoming and a formal 'Flag Raising Ceremony.' We pay tribute to our country, our veterans, and learn about the meaning of the flag. It's a wonderful ceremony. My sincere appreciation to these gentlemen (& all veterans) for their military service and for making our ceremony possible. ❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸
THURSDAY--Due to the extreme heat, Middle School Football @SBL will be conducting an indoor practice. Parents can pick up their children at 4:30 at the middle school........ seventh and eighth grade volleyball will still practice in the designated locations with 7th Grade at the high school gym and 8th grade in the middle school gym.
Middle school football will practice Friday morning at 6:30 AM.
Monday morning we celebrated employees who worked for the district for 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 years. We want to give special recognition to Craig Golden for 35 years of service to the students of Sergeant Bluff. Thank you Craig!
It was wonderful to have so many students and families back in the MS building. I very much enjoyed talking and meeting so many of you. We will see all our students Wednesday. Breakfast eaters can wait out front and will be called in at 7:45am; outside entry bell at 8:10am; and classes start at 8:15. With it being Wednesday, we will have an early out at 2:20, each Wednesday throughout the year.
Reminder: The 2023-24 Open House is Monday, August 21 from 5pm-6:30pm. There will be an incoming 6th grade student/parent meeting at 4:45 in the MS gym. There will be an incoming 7th grade student/parent meeting at 5:30 in the MS gym. Each meeting will last less than 15 minutes. School starts on Wednesday, August 23 at 8:15 with a 2:20 dismissal. WELCOME BACK TO THE MS!!

CONGRATULATIONS to Mya.... Mya Burns, an SBL 7th grader, was just crowned the "Grand Champion" of the 2-12 year old division at the Bill Riley Talent Show at the Iowa State Fair.

Busy, 8 hour day of training today with my special education team and our classroom associates. Many of our teachers spend a great deal of time each summer with continuing education classes, various training, curriculum work, and other recertification or state requirements.
SBL Parents/Students...As a reminder, there's been a change to our Wednesday early out schedule. On Wednesdays, we will dismiss at 2:20 (not 2:40) beginning with the 2023-24 school year.
