This Friday the 3rd grade students will have their annual music program at 2:00 in the Elementary Gym.  Doors will open at 1:30.  The program will be live streamed for those who are unable to attend.  3rd grade students will be able to leave following the program.  Please meet them in the lunchroom and check them out with their teacher.  4th & 5th grade students will watch the program Friday morning and will not be dismissed for the program.  If you'd like to take a 4th or 5th grade student home with you following the program please sign them out in the office prior to the start of the program and they will be called out immediately following the program.

If you drop off or pick up your child from school, please observe the two stop signs in the parking lot designating crosswalks.  These crosswalks are not supervisied in the morning so it is motorists job to watch for students crossing over to school.  After school adults are in all crosswalks helping students safely cross the parking lot.  To help keep the adults and students safe please abide by these stop signs and be aware of the crosswalks.  We have had some close calls this school year with students nearly getting hit and impatient parents getting upset with staff.  Every student who needs to cross the parking lot has the right of way when using the crosswalks.  All crosswalks are on camera and recorded so if somebody is not being safe or is being defiant with staff Officer Hutzell will watch the video and make contact with that driver.

What a week it is going to be with the weather from 70+ degrees on Monday to chances of snow by Tuesday and a high of 31 on Wednesday.  This makes it difficult to know if your child will need a coat during the school day.  Assume they will need a coat and send one to school with your child daily.  The highs of the day do not usually hit till later in the day after students have been outside for recess.

Weekly Reminders:

1.  Please notify the office if your student will be late or absent, by 8:45am.  If we do not receive a call, voicemail or email, then Mrs. Kloostra will call you.  We must account for all students absent from school.  Contact the office by email kloossus@sblschools.com or phone 712-943-5563 option 2.

2.  If your child is leaving early from school, they will not be called to the office until you arrive.  This way we keep them in class as long as possible in the event you are running late to pick them up.  Advance notice to the office will help us locate your student more quickly.  Coming 5 minutes early will also help get your child out the door on time when leaving early.

3.  If your child goes to The Warrior Y Club after school and will not be going on a given day, please call and let them know.  A reminder the Warrior Y Club will be closed on late start and early out days.

4.  At times seconds may be served during lunch.  Seconds and extra milk or milk with cold lunch is not covered under the free or reduced lunch program.  Students must have money in their accounts for those extra items.

5.  Breakfast is served from 7:45-8:10.  The bell rings at 8:10 and school begins at 8:15.  Students are counted tardy if they are not in their classroom at 8:15.

6.  Winter is here so it is time to start sending a coat, hat and gloves to school daily with your child as the temperatures fluctate from morning to afternoon and day to day.  When there is snow on the ground students will also need boots and snowpants.  If you need assistance getting any of these items for your child, please contact Mrs. Lindberg at lindbshe@sblschools.com.

7.  TeamMates Mentoring Program is open to students in grades 3-12.  Mentors are always needed to help make this program a success. If you or somebody you know is interested in being a mentor sign up here.  If you would like to sign up your child to have a mentor contact Mrs. Lindberg.
