This week students will be taking the ISASP Assessment.  Assessments will take place in the morning for each grade level.  On Friday we kicked off ISASP testing week with a video of how students are going to "Be Like A Duck!" during testing week.

You might be wondering, "What does being like a duck have to do with taking tests?" Well, let me tell you. Ducks are some of the most resilient and focused creatures out there, and we can learn a lot from them.

Quack with Confidence: When you see a duck gliding across the water, what do you notice? That's right – they do it with confidence! Just like a duck confidently paddles through the water, I want you to approach the ISASP with confidence. Believe in yourself and your abilities. You've been preparing for this, and you are ready to show what you know!

Stay Calm Under Pressure: Have you ever seen a duck gracefully glide through rough waters? Despite the challenges around them, ducks remain calm and composed. Similarly, during the test, remember to stay calm under pressure. Take deep breaths, focus on the questions one at a time, and remember that you've got this!

Keep Paddling Forward: Ducks are persistent creatures. No matter how strong the current, they keep paddling forward. Similarly, I want you to keep pushing forward, even if you encounter difficult questions or challenges during the test. Don't get discouraged – keep paddling, keep trying your best, and you'll reach the finish line successfully!

Take  a minute to watch this video about being like a duck!  Students will be earning Warrior Way ISASP tickets for a chance at picking out a duck of their own.  Don't worry, they will not be bringing home real ducks, these are fun ducks dressed in a variety of themes.

This week is the final week to order your child a yearbook.  The yearbook is full of pictures for the entire school year with each classroom having their own page.  All students are included in the yearbook!! Yearbooks are offered for sale online at SBL Yearbook Store:  https://store.shopyearbook.com/sbl-yearbooks. Cost is $16 and orders are due April 20th. Yearbooks will be delivered to schools before the end of school in May!  Check out this flyer for more details.

Online orders only and extra yearbooks will not be ordered so order your child's yearbook now if you want them to have one!!

Did You Know:

  • Once ISASP testing is complete students will be completing the end of year reading and math assessments which includes students reading out loud for a minute to measure their fluency.  Following the long spring break we have seen students fluency scores decline some so please take a couple minutes each night and haver your child read out loud to you for one minute.  Fluency practice passages are included in these weekly emails to make it easy for you.  The students have been working hard and we want to see their efforts when it's time for them to read with their teacher on the end of year fluency assessment.
