SBL News

We are incredibly proud to announce that two of our amazing third-grade students have been officially nominated for the National Math Stars program!

In partnership with the Iowa Department of Education, this prestigious program recognizes the state’s most advanced young mathematicians. Our two nominees earned this honor by scoring in the top 2% of all third graders in the entire state of Iowa on the ISASP math assessment last spring!

This exciting news continues a wonderful tradition of mathematical excellence here at SBL.  Last year, another talented student applied and successfully received National Math Star recognition for 2025!

What’s Next for Our Stars?

These newly nominated students have been invited to apply for the incredible, free 10-year enrichment program that supports them all the way through graduation. If selected, they will receive:

  • Advanced Learning: Expert mentorship and advanced math courses tailored to their skills.

  • Financial Support: Funding for STEM summer camps and other amazing enrichment opportunities.

  • Family Guidance: Dedicated advising to help parents navigate their child’s unique academic journey.

  • Community: Built-in connections with other mathematically extraordinary students and families.

Please join us in celebrating this phenomenal academic achievement and cheering on our new nominees! We are so proud of our students for reaching for the stars and representing the Sergeant Bluff-Luton Community School District so well.
