busses

At Sergeant Bluff-Luton Schools, the safety and well-being of our students are our top priorities. In an effort to enhance the safety of our bus dismissal process, we have carefully reviewed our current procedures and identified areas where improvements can be made.

Effective Tuesday, September 5, 2023, we will be implementing the following changes to our bus dismissal procedure: Buses will first pick up all elementary students on the west side of the elementary school before going to the primary school to their normal location.  The buses will pull into formation on the west side of the building between 3:05-3:10.  Traffic will not be able to move through that area until all students are loaded.

The decision to implement this change in dismissal was driven by our commitment to student safety and to streamline the bus dismissal process. We believe this modification will help reduce potential disruptions and ensure a safer, more organized environment for all students riding the school bus.

We kindly request your cooperation in supporting this dismissal change by being patient when the elementary students are loading the bus.  If you are picking up your child, who normally rides the bus, you will no longer be able to pull them out of the bus line and will need to notify the office and/or teacher ahead of dismissal. If you are a primary school parent the normal busing area needs to continue being clear for the buses to enter and load.  If you have any concerns or questions regarding this change, please do not hesitate to contact the school office or the transportation department.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we work to enhance the safety and efficiency of our bus dismissal process. Your child's safety is our top priority, and we believe that these changes will contribute to a more secure and structured transportation experience.

Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education and well-being.
