Baseballs and softball fans,,
We have spent significant dollars to build high-quality fields for our athletes. Help us protect it. Sunflower seeds are extremely harmful to natural turf. There are signs up as you enter that say no seeds. While you are not on the field as a fan, wind over time will blow them on to the field. Below are reasons why seeds are harmful to the turf. Thank you for your cooperation in protecting our investment.
-Fiber Wear: Accumulated shells create friction and abrasive wear on the synthetic grass blades.
-Drainage Issues: The shells slip into the crumb rubber or sand infill, blocking the field's drainage systems.
-Bacterial & Mold Growth: Unlike natural dirt and grass, synthetic turf cannot naturally decompose organic matter. Decaying seeds and shells trap moisture, leading to mold, fungi, and harmful bacteria.
-Pest Attraction: Discarded shells draw birds and rodents, which can physically tear up the turf and leave behind harmful droppings. (This is a real concern as we have rodents due to being near a field.)

It was a great night for the first baseball game at the new baseball field. Thanks Coach Admire for throwing out the first pitch.

A reminder of a few things for fans at the first baseball game on the new field:
1. Seeds are not allowed by fans or athletes as they can damage the turf. Thank you for your cooperation.
2. Additional parking can be on the grass on the north side of the gravel parking lot. Veer to the left of the parking lot onto the grass and then park facing south. (This will be graveled next week.)
3. The 185th will be assisting with the national anthem.
4. There is room by the bleachers for lawn chairs. Feel free to sit down the foul lines on lawn chairs as well.
5. Check out the new sign above the water fountains as you arrive. The sign was made by the students in Warrior Manufacturing.

Please join us in celebrating three incredible SBL educators as they begin their retirement!
Thank you, Kelly Adams, Kati Bak, and Matt Sterk, for the countless lives you’ve touched and the lasting impact you’ve made on our community. We wish you all the best in this exciting new chapter!

The first home baseball game at the new field is Friday night. JV is at 5:30 and the varsity is at 7:30. Former Coach, Rick Admire, will be throwing out the first pitch before the varsity game. The 185th is helping with the National Anthem.

Congratulations to Tyler for his individual fourth place finish today. Congratulations to Joe and Brayton for finishing third in doubles. Good luck at state team tennis next week!
