state penny

Many people wonder how we utilize the state penny tax the district receives.  Between 2020 and 2022, the district received an average of $1,498,266 in revenue.  During that same time, the district spent, on average, $1,211,578.  The state penny is used for transportation, technology, maintenance, equipment and building renovations. On average, 50% is spent on buildings & grounds, 37% on technology and 9% on vehicles.

The following are projects from this summer utilizing the state penny:

  • replacing a section of roof at the primary building
  • replacing carpet in three buildings: primary-2nd grad; elementary-4th grade pod; middle school-music area
  • removing a sink in the primary kitchen that didn't work to create more (storage) space
  • replacing a couple exterior doors at the elementary
  • renovate the middle school Family & Consumer Science room - we removed the kitchenettes as they were too small to accommodate the number of students - the MS students go over to the high school FCS kitchen
  • new flag poles at the baseball and softball fields
  • repurpose a storage area to use for AutoCAD computer class in the high school. This course requires desktop computers that are more robust than laptops.
  • Wifi at the bus barn
