We are thrilled to introduce you to an extraordinary opportunity that could transform your child's educational journey—the TeamMates Mentoring Program. This nationally recognized initiative brings the power of one-to-one mentoring directly into our school community, creating lasting bonds that extend far beyond the classroom.
What it is: TeamMates is a one-to-one, school-based mentoring program.
Who it serves: Students in grades 3–12 are matched with a caring community volunteer.
How it works: Mentors meet with students once a week during the school day.
Our focus: Building relationships, encouraging students, and helping them reach their full potential.
Long-term connection: Once matched, mentors stay with their mentee through graduation and beyond!
Why consider TeamMates for your child?
Research consistently shows that all students—regardless of their current academic standing or social involvement—benefit tremendously from having an additional caring adult invested in their success. Every student can benefit from a mentor—whether they are a high achiever, heavily involved, quiet and reserved, or just need an extra caring adult in their corner. Mentors provide encouragement, goal-setting support, and a consistent relationship that helps students grow in confidence and leadership.
If you would like to nominate your child for a mentor, please contact Mrs. Hansen, our program coordinator (hanseash@sblschools.com), or your building counselor. We will work with you to complete the necessary forms and do our best to find a great match.
We also need mentors!
The heart of TeamMates lies in our incredible volunteer mentors—community members who generously share their time, wisdom, and care with our students. If you, a family member, or someone you know is interested in becoming a mentor, please visit www.teammates.org to learn more and apply. We are always looking for caring adults who want to make a positive difference in the lives of our students.
