Sergeant Bluff-Luton fourth-grader Bailey Boettcher is one of 102 students selected for National Math Stars (NMS) multi-year program.

NMS is a multi-state program that identifies mathematically extraordinary second- and third-graders and provides long-term, individualized support to help them make the most of their talents. NMS’ core program provides each student with more than $100,000 in academic mentorship, enrichment opportunities, and other resources over the course of 10 years or until high school graduation.

Bailey is one of 17 Iowans selected from a pool of 764 eligible students who scored in the top two percent on the mathematics section of the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress. She completed a multi-stage evaluation process that included personal interviews while assessing her mathematical aptitude and desire to explore STEM-related fields.

We are so proud that one of our very own has earned one of these coveted spots! Many thanks to all the teachers, school administrators, parents and community members who have helped Bailey shine so brightly.

As a National Math Star, Bailey will receive:

  • Long-term support from fourth grade through high school at no cost to the family

  • Weekly 1-on-1 math mentoring from a dedicated family advisor

  • STEM enrichment materials and summer experiences

  • Advanced technology and educational resources

  • Family and community events

Please join us in celebrating Bailey for her hard work, curiosity and love for math. We know this is just the beginning of an incredible journey!
