We are thrilled to share an extraordinary milestone that reflects the hard work, dedication, and collaborative spirit across our entire school district. Sergeant Bluff-Luton Primary School, Elementary School, and Middle School have ALL been officially recognized as U.S. News & World Report Best Schools!
This district-wide achievement highlights the continuous continuum of care and academic excellence our educators provide from a child's very first steps in our primary classrooms all the way through their middle school years.
How the Rankings Are Calculated
The U.S. News & World Report rankings evaluate public elementary and middle schools using a comprehensive, balanced formula:
Academic Proficiency (50%): Overall student achievement on state assessment tests in reading and mathematics.
Socioeconomic Context & Equity (50%): How effectively a school educates all of its students in relation to socioeconomic demographics.
To earn a spot among the top-ranked schools, a campus cannot rely solely on test scores—it must demonstrate that it is successfully serving and elevating every single student. Receiving this recognition across our Primary, Elementary, and Middle schools validates that our commitment to inclusive, high-quality education spans every grade level in Sergeant Bluff-Luton.
A Shared Community Celebration
District-wide recognition takes an entire community working together:
Our Students: Thank you for showing up curious, eager to learn, and giving your best every single day.
Our Teachers & Staff: Thank you for setting high standards, creating supportive environments, and believing in every child’s potential from pre-K through 8th grade.
Our Families: Thank you for your continued partnership, trust, and support at home.
Please share a comment and take pride in knowing that your children are part of a nationally recognized school community.
