Congratulations to SBL grad Kenzie Foley for being named NCAA Division II Volleyball Player of the Year!

Second graders were adding multiple digits. Kindergarteners were working on letter sounds. I heard a side conversation where two boys were talking about wrestling and how he smoked his dad!

Thank you to Amiee Krogh for 12 years of service to the students, staff and community of Sergeant Bluff-Luton. Today was her last board meeting.

The advanced 7th grade reading class is working on persuasive presentations. They are required to give a presentation on a community issue in Sergeant Bluff. They have to interview local people. A great activity to connect them to their community!

Basketball last night...wrestling this morning. Go Warriors!

With the first basketball game tonight, here is a reminder of the rule changes.

Great couple wins for the wrestling team tonight

Enjoyed the middle school concert tonight!

Happy Thanksgiving!

MS and HS staff worked on a number of things today. HS staff met at the AEA and worked on Teacher Tools for Student Engagement. The MS staff began reviewing curriculum for a curriculum purchase for next school year and then spent time on the concept of Multi-Tier Systems of Support in consultation with the AEA.

Thank you to the Sergeant Bluff PD for helping with safety training in the elementary and primary buildings today. The new Crisis Plan requires training with the local PD every other year. The other year we train internally with our SRO. Training is also required annually with students. Building principals will communicate with parents before this occurs so they are aware and can talk to their children if they wish.

With basketball events beginning, fans should be aware of a number of rule changes:
1. No more 1-and-1 free throws
2. Bonus will always be 2 free throws
3. Bonus begins at 5 team fouls
4. Team fouls reset each quarter
5. Scoreboard will show max of 5 fouls per quarter.

Teachers attended day 5 of Restorative Practices training at the AEA today. This training is about fostering healthy relationships and promoting positive school discipline.

Thank you to all our veterans!

New Food Service Director, Teresa Hill, donned her chef's hat to do a pop-up kitchen in the elementary today. Students were able to taste-test "broccoli littles" as a possible new food item. She will be doing the same in the other buildings. They were a big hit!

The AutoCAD program has been designing SBL signs and producing them on the plasma table. Eventually they will sell signs. A great real-world activity!

Eight middle school students tried out for the Northwest IA Honor Band. Sydni and Briella participated in the concert on Saturday which includes students from all over NW Iowa!

The primary and elementary buildings worked collaboratively last year to select a new reading curriculum. This morning building leadership consisting of the building principals and instructional coaches visited classrooms to assess implementation of the new curriculum and discuss ways to support teachers in their practice.

The kitchen is celebrating a number of National Food Days this month!

Visited the middle school today. Students were working on paraphrasing, multi-step equations, graphing and comparing species.
